Photo Blast

This photography conference was AMAZING. Ohio did a wonderful job. It was a blast and it was so awesome talking to so many talented photographers out there! I finally met a few of my favorite photographers...Ben Shirk, Mark Bryant, Coleen Gosnar, Darty Hines, Julia Kelleher..so many more. I have been studying photography for almost 7 years now and there is always more to learn. You never stop learning. The speakers were very inspirational and informative. I am working super hard to get this studio going. Sweat and tears, but I know it will all be worth it. The presenters often would talk about "moms with cameras". I am a mom with a camera. It's a talent I have and it was fun to see the majority of the photographers there that are like me. They got a degree in Education or Art, or computer science and they are self taught and have a crazy talent with photography. It's not only about knowing HOW your camera works, or whether you are worthy enough to become a professional. It's about light, creativity, passion, WORK and YOU. Did I set out 7 years go wanting to become a professional photographer? No way! I just wanted to become more proficient so I could document my daughters medical journey. Okay! Enough about all of that. Those who know me and my style, know that I'm not a BIG fan of studio portraits. That is just my style. Can I DO studio? Yes. Do I LOVE it? Not really. BUT, I want to challenge myself to like it a little bit more. Especially where I live. You don't have warm weather 365 days of the year like you do back home in Texas. Here, you have actual 4 seasons, which are beautiful. At this photography conference I bought a couple of fun backgrounds for my studio. My kids, as usual, were my models. Trying to have a studio in your home is tough. We are in the process of remodeling some rooms. Hardwood floors down, adding bathrooms, taking wall paper down, etc... SO, it's kind of not pretty, but it will be in a few months. Please be patient with me! Enjoy these fun new backgrounds....

Valetines

Photo cards are a cute way to use as a Valentine card. I don't like to buy the paper ones that get thrown away or torn up. We did photo Valentines this year and I LOVE the personalized look! Definitely a tradition we will continue every year. PLUS, what grandparent, Aunt, Uncle would NOT want a fun picture of your kids in a wallet sized Valentine card? Enjoy these....

Session 2...

A couple of weeks ago I photographed this family in all their camo. I then shot them just playing in the snow with their snow attire on. This family has fun together..you can tell. The two little ones are good buddies (mom might disagree)..they were teasing each other through out this shoot. I love the candidness of this session...the natural way they interacted with each other. When I think of my style of photography, I think of a natural feel. It is timeless, unique, and evokes emotion just by looking back on that picture--back to the exact moment in time with loved ones. I like posing, but my favorites are the natural posing one has when around their loved one. I feel we captured it here! I do have to say that this family is close to me. When moving so far away from family it is nice to have people welcome you like your family! They are the most genuine, accepting, loving people I have met up here! Sarah is one of my best friends. A friend who believes in you and encourages you. I'm so blessed to know them...and to take pictures of their cute family. I have taken their kids milestone pictures, birthday pictures...it helps that I have a good relationship with the kids, too. They trust me and we have a fun time during our shoots. .

Connection

I got to spend time with these 2 awesome people this past weekend...and their 4 legged kids! This session just flowed and John and Annie made it so easy. They have such a connection with each other and I feel I captured it. They are beautiful!

Photo Blast!

I am registered to attend the Ohio Professional Photographers Conference in February of this year! It is called Photo Blast and I am so excited to attend! The fun thing is that I am actually familiar with all the presenters that will be there. They have recently been on Photovision and they are amazing! I am hoping to learn so much more and be inspired. As a photographer, you are always learning. Always challenging yourself. Always inspired. Here is one of my inspirations!
