This photography conference was AMAZING. Ohio did a wonderful job. It was a blast and it was so awesome talking to so many talented photographers out there! I finally met a few of my favorite photographers...Ben Shirk, Mark Bryant, Coleen Gosnar, Darty Hines, Julia Kelleher..so many more. I have been studying photography for almost 7 years now and there is always more to learn. You never stop learning. The speakers were very inspirational and informative. I am working super hard to get this studio going. Sweat and tears, but I know it will all be worth it. The presenters often would talk about "moms with cameras". I am a mom with a camera. It's a talent I have and it was fun to see the majority of the photographers there that are like me. They got a degree in Education or Art, or computer science and they are self taught and have a crazy talent with photography. It's not only about knowing HOW your camera works, or whether you are worthy enough to become a professional. It's about light, creativity, passion, WORK and YOU. Did I set out 7 years go wanting to become a professional photographer? No way! I just wanted to become more proficient so I could document my daughters medical journey.
Okay! Enough about all of that. Those who know me and my style, know that I'm not a BIG fan of studio portraits. That is just my style. Can I DO studio? Yes. Do I LOVE it? Not really. BUT, I want to challenge myself to like it a little bit more. Especially where I live. You don't have warm weather 365 days of the year like you do back home in Texas. Here, you have actual 4 seasons, which are beautiful.
At this photography conference I bought a couple of fun backgrounds for my studio. My kids, as usual, were my models. Trying to have a studio in your home is tough. We are in the process of remodeling some rooms. Hardwood floors down, adding bathrooms, taking wall paper down, etc... SO, it's kind of not pretty, but it will be in a few months. Please be patient with me!
Enjoy these fun new backgrounds....
